The first edition of the Hunt gathered over 2,000 guests that came from all over the country and as far as the U.S. with the likes of Efe Ogbeni AKA Efeone a pioneer of Afrobeats to the world. Music executives, media houses, on-air personalities, and other key stakeholders in the entertainment industry were present. It was held at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton hotel, one of Nigeria’s finest, most luxurious and secure hospitality destinations. Over 200 artists submitted their data to the hunt to qualify to be one of the talents that gets to showcase their craft on day 2 of the first edition of the hunt. The first day of the hunt by Phoenix distro was a seminar, this had a gathering of the key stakeholders in the music industry, and the topic was “The potential of the Abuja Music industry”.

Through this seminar conversations were sparked up about the impact of the talents from the northern region as a whole in the industry over the years and highlighted the likes of M.I, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, Tekno, Psquare, 2baba, Odumodu Blvck, but to name a few. Over the years, the Abuja music industry has been underrated and through this platform, the global spotlight was put on talents from the northern region of Nigeria and not only focusing on the western part mostly. The first day had speakers who were General Manager Sony Music WA, A&R Manager SMWA, Label Manager SMWA, and Eddie Madaki among others.

THE HUNT by Phoenix distro promises to organize the seminar and talent showcase once or twice every year for a start. We look forward to helping talents take their brand from Africa to the world and bridge the gap between Afrobeats and the other genres in music.
